Characterization of Lignocellulosic Biomass Samples in Omu-Aran Metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria, as Potential Fuel for Pyrolysis Yields

This study deals with a preliminary investigation of biomass samples' physicochemical, structural composition, and thermal properties to aid the appropriate selection utilized for pyrolysis operation. The proximate, ultimate, composition analyses were conducted using seven lignocellulose samples obtained in Ajase market, Ajasse Ipo, Kwara State, Nigeria, Omu-Aran, Nigeria. Results showed that average moisture contents (MC) ranged from 0.12 0.44%, volatile matter (VM) 73.70 83.82%. Fixed carbon (FC) varied 12.79 22.80%, Ash between 01.20 5.52%. Similarly, 45.11 50.00%. Hydrogen 5.38 6.15%, nitrogen 0.20 1.24%, oxygen 43.79 48.51%. Also, sulphur 0.01 0.19%, while species' cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin 28.34 45.80%, 25.83 34.01%, 21.96 49.63% respectively. high percentage VM, C, H, HHV, ignitability index, hemicellulose content recorded would enhance devolatilization reactivity, ignitability, burn gases reactor, as well good production hydrocarbons during process. low ash prevent harmful chemical deposits reactor It can be deduced shea butter wood was best suited biofuel generation, closely followed by sugarcane bagasse palm kernel shell.
